Custard Cake

Hi friends,

Today let’s try a delicious steamed custard cake which can be prepared in an  idly cooker

Let’s begin

Diet : Non Vegetarian

Course: dessert

Serves : 8

Cooking time : 50 minutes

INGREDIENTS

Milk – 50 ml

Custard powder – 2 tbsp

Egg – 3

Powdered sugar – 1 cup

Milk – ½ cup

Vanilla essence – 1 tsp

Oil – 20 ml

All purpose flour – 1.5 cup

Baking powder – 1 tsp

Baking soda – 1 tsp

To make icing

Icing sugar – 1 and half cup

Butter – 25g

Milk – 1 tbsp

Vanilla essence – 1 tsp

METHOD

Boil 50ml of milk after it is boiled off the flame and add custard powder. Now cook again till it get completely cooked. Don’t make it very thick. Next allow it to cool.

Meanwhile in a bowl take 3 egg yolks and add half cup powdered sugar and half cup milk into it. Beat all this well with an egg beater for around 2 minutes.

Next in an other bowl add 3 egg whites and half cup powdered  sugar[if you want more sweetness you can increase the amount of sugar] beat all this well with an egg beater. Now add 20ml of oil and beat again.

Now add maida in a strainer along with baking powder and baking soda. Mix all this well in a strainer and strain into the egg white bowl. Mix all well with the help of a spoon

Finally add the cooled custard mix and egg yolk mix into this bowl and beat until smooth. Cake mix is ready.

Now place a butter paper in the cake tray brush some butter upon that and pour the batter into it.

Now boil 1 inch water in an idly cooker after it is boiled place the cake tray into it. Now cover the tray with a foil paper and close the steamer. Put the stove in simmer for 40 minutes. Check whether it is cooked after 40 minutes.

TO MAKE BUTTER ICING

STEP 1:

To make butter icing in a bowl add icing sugar and softened butter. Beat them well until soft. Now add milk and vanilla essence and beat again till it gets a creamy consistency. [if it has not become creamy increase the amount of icing sugar, butter and sugar]

Now fill the cream inside a icing bag and make your own designs.[I used flower pattern].
